Remove Background from Photos

Add a photo and the AI cuts out the subject straight away: people, pets, products. Then pick transparent, white, a colour, a blur or another photo. It runs on your device.

How to remove a background

  1. Add your photo with the button in the editor above. The first time, choose the Best model (any subject) or Quick (people) — a one-time download.
  2. Wait a few seconds while the AI finds the subject.
  3. Touch up with the Keep and Remove brushes, and smooth or soften the edge. Leave Clean colour fringe on for hair.
  4. Pick a new background and click Done, then Export as PNG to keep it transparent.

Is it free?

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The AI model runs inside your browser. It downloads once (about 18 to 92 MB depending on the model) and then works offline.

Does it work on hair?

Yes. Edges are refined at full resolution and the old background's colour is cleaned from fine hair. For tricky spots, paint with Keep or Remove.

How do I keep it transparent?

Export as PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency, so it gets a white background.
